Some books don’t give you a choice, they catch you

Some books don’t give you a choice, they catch your attention and you just stop mid-aisle.

Here are six covers I couldn’t walk past without taking a better look (the hammer on Too Old for This really did it for me):

• Too Old for This by Samantha Downing
• The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith
• The Maidens by Alex Michaelides
• Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney
• In the Woods by Tana French
• The Family Remains by Lisa Jewell

Now it’s your turn: would you grab any of these off the shelf? Tell me your pick in the comments, and tell me if you've already ready any!

📝 Save this post for your next trip to the bookstore.

Hello and welcome! 😊 I'm Niki, and Latte Lit Musin

Hello and welcome! 😊 I'm Niki, and Latte Lit Musings is my little corner of the internet for all things thriller, crime, mystery and suspense.

I started this blog to both keep track of what I read and keep myself creative during an unexpected season of uncertainty. Somewhere along the way it turned into a space I really love sharing with other book lovers.

A few things about me: I drink way too much coffee, my background is in corporate comms, I crochet when I need a break from reading, my dog is my favorite co-reader and I judge books by their covers more than I should.

Yes, that's an iced latte in my hand, and yes, I love @dunkin.

📚Tell me what's on your TBR and say hi in the comments!

A lost dog, a missing girl, and a house full of secrets.

I gave Lisa Jewell’s It Could Have Been Her 4 out of 5 lattes. Swipe for my quick take ➡

I’m planning to read more of her books, so tell me: which Lisa Jewell book should I read next?

❤️What I loved: the shifting POVs, Jane and her dogs, and the buildup.

💔What I didn’t love: the slow start.

If you like domestic suspense, creepy houses, and dark family secrets, this one is for you.

🔗 My full review is up on the blog @ the link in bio!

Have you read this one? Did the slow start bother you too?

✨A gentle reminder for myself and my bookish besties:

I set out to be more intentional with my reading this year, but life has had other plans - and that's okay.

I'm hard on myself sometimes when this happens, but it's important to remember that our books will wait and the stories will welcome us back. Reading pauses, whether life is hectic or our minds need a break, aren't setbacks - they're just part of the process.

Here's what I'm reading this month, the greatest month of all (aka my birthday month 🎉)!

Life has a way of derailing our own goals sometimes, and that was definitely true for me in the month of September 😅. But, I'm reminding myself that as long as you're reading something - even if it's two pages - it's great for your brain! 🧠

In addition to my monthly picks, I also plan to read Against All Odds by Richard Danzig. It's a legal thriller gifted to me by @bookpublicityservices that I can't wait to sink my teeth into.

Stay tuned for my reviews of It Could Have Been Her by Lisa Jewell and The Sun Down Motel by Simone St. James!

🍂 One of my favorite things about Fall is how cozy it all is. I don't have a fireplace, so I make do with some help from YouTube! 😂

📖 My perfect reading set up: a comfortable seat, a warm, cozy blanket, and my dog at my side.

Whats your "reading setup"?
