This was my second attempt at a Lucy Foley novel, my first being The Paris Apartment, which didn’t quite land for me. Still, I’ve heard so many great things about her work, and several of her books are on my TBR list. I was especially drawn to this one because of its intriguing premise, the promise of mystery and drama, and, admittedly, the gorgeous cover (I’m a sucker for a nice design!).
My only real gripe was the pacing in the first half. It took a long time for the story to truly find its momentum, and I found myself waiting for the plot to dig into the heart of the mystery.
That said, once it picked up, it really delivered. The book is packed with suspense, tension and plenty of twists to keep you engaged. I’m definitely looking forward to exploring more of Lucy Foley’s work.
If you enjoy thrillers with a strong dose of mystery and drama, this one is worth the read.
My Final Pour:
